Pantone decides to go purple! Yes, you heard right; purple is the new black.

Each year, Pantone Inc. decides the color of the year which in turn inspires the fashion industry, conference and event management companies, florists and other consumer-oriented companies. And this year they decided to go with the ultraviolet shade of purple.

Most often than not, purple is cast aside as just another pretty color reserved for kiddie parties. People tend to believe that purple can become a little too overwhelming at events. But, that’s not true! When used in right proportions, purple can communicate originality and ingenuity to your attendees.

The PANTONE 18-3838 UltraViolet is the color of the year 2018 is bold and fresh. So how do you play with the color without overdoing it? Read on.

The lights

There’s no better way to brighten up your event venue than lighting it up. Purple looks vibrant and will only add to the ambiance of your shindig. A ballroom uplighting or a muted purple lighting will work wonders.  For people who are apprehensive about committing to purple alone, you may switch colors through the course of the event using a simple hack. Colored lights reflect off white surfaces, therefore, using white linen and a white background helps you change the color of your event arena.

Hanging Decor

Installing an overhead decorative unit can give your event a facelift. Popular event and venue management companies confirm that using dangling elements such as floating purple lanterns can get your guests excited and moreover, they create an amazing backdrop for all their selfies. Another way of working with the shade is by installing a mesh of purpled colored string lights. This is a game changer as it creates a surreal effect as your guests walk in through them and the purple color adds to the celestial aura.

Tablecloth

Does it sound a little too much? Not at all! With the emergence of Ultraviolet as the color of the year, event planners worldwide are embracing it and making use of it in several ways. One such way of including it in your event decor in a unique yet chic way is to mellow down the powerful Ultraviolet and use pastel shades of it when it comes to the choice of tablecloths.

Floral arrangements and Centerpieces

Add purple centerpieces to your otherwise white table to glamorize it a little bit. Vibrant purple feather plumes in tinted glass vases accompanied by gold elements make an interesting centerpiece. Don’t you think?

Flowers also make great centerpieces. Carnations and tulips make amazing table runners or can accentuate your stairway decor while sticking to the theme.

Lastly, the little big elements

Hosting a gala? How about a purple balloon arch your guests could walk in through or wrapping sweet treats or favors at the event with the color. These little elements can also tie your theme together.
